Well I've finally been persuaded by the lovely Angie from Chez Hippo to start writing a blog! Be gentle with me as I'm not sure how it all works and have clicked on just about everything to see what happens!

My printing press in action!
I better start with introducing myself - I'm an artist, printmaker, painter, craftyperson from the West Midlands.

I specialised in etching at Uni but its not the easiest of things to do at home (huge printing presses and lots of nasty acid everywhere!) so when I saw a small etching press that could fit on my dining room table a few years ago I grabbed it and its lived there ever since, just gets shoved to the corner of the table and we eat round it! I now make collagraph prints - basically a safe form of printing from a card printing plate which has various textures on it which then hold different amounts of ink when printed.

I've been printing and exhibiting limited edition prints for a while but I've been thinking about getting my images out there to the general public so have just started printing these onto fabric (with varying results!) and now make bags and cushions with various animal designs (OK I will admit it I'm addicted to printing meerkats!)

Collagraph printed cushions
I'm working on some flower printed magnets and keyrings at the moment and will put some photos on if they work!

Well that wasn't too bad, I survived my first Blog and hopefully lots more to come!

Clare xx

  2. Thank you,I think I am getting the hang of this! You have just gotta nag the others now! xx

  3. Hi Clare - Looks to me as though you are pretty sorted at this blog thing already! I am a member of Birmingham Printmakers and wondered if maybe you are too? I have also just started a blog and keep fiddling with it just to see what happens lol - I have a long way to go though. Good luck with it all.

    1. I think I am getting used to it now! I'm not a member, I did a course there when I was at Uni and always meant to go back but never have, will have to check it out again!
